SUPR: What does your morning routine look like?
TN: I am a morning person and my boyfriend is a Personal Trainer so most mornings I am up bright and early; I love to get my body moving right away.
- 5am wake up
- 6am gym
- home by 7:15am – make breakfast (different everyday. Could be eggs, could be sweet like a smoothie, I eat whatever I feel like)
- shower and then ready for the day by 8:30am!
SUPR: What does ‘health’ mean to you?
TN: To me health isn’t just eating and exercising well. Health is multi-dimensional. It’s fuelling your body with goodness, fuelling your mind with knowledge, being open to growth and positivity, it’s moving your body (but make it FUN!) and most importantly health is giving your body exactly what it needs. Listening to it’s needs!
SUPR: What are five things you’ll always have in your fridge / pantry?
TN:
- Banjo – Vegan carob bears (I recently found out I can’t have dairy and am always on the hunt for a chocolate alternative, because I LOVE CHOC!)
- Cauliflower (very into cauliflower rice, pizza, roasted, mashed… its very versatile)
- Avocado
- Pumpkin
- Potato
SUPR: What’s your favourite form of movement?
TN: I love group training. A bit of healthy competition and training with friends is always more fun. I do Plyometrics twice a week and I LOVE IT. I am also really into RUN GROUP.
SUPR: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
TN: I have travelled a lot for work but to be honest nothing beats where I grew up. I am such a homebody! My friends are here, family and I am right near the beach. I guess anywhere where there is a beach and good people I could live! :)
SUPR: What is one fun fact most people wouldn’t know about you?
TN: When I was fresh out of school I moved to Hong Kong and worked at Disneyland!
SUPR: Why is it important to you to be Straight Up and authentic? Have you ever struggled in the past with being your true self?
TN: It is so important to be STRAIGHT UP and authentic. We are living in a day and age where there is a lot of fake. I am never going to airbrush any of my photos, I am never going to change the way my body is. I see girls change the way their legs look or their arms…and it’s so sad to see because at the end of the day the only person who you are truly trying to fool is yourself. I think we all need to embrace our differences, and know that we are all unique and special in our own way.
I have always been pretty true to myself and I don’t easily get persuaded by others. Growing up we didn’t have internet on our phones (god I sound so old saying that!) but we didn’t! Information wasn’t at a click and a flick of a button. We weren’t bombarded every second of the day with photos of Instagram models/ Influencers and other celebs that people look up to. So I think that growing up in this day and age is hard. My advice would be to block out the fake and focus on yourself. Don’t compare yourself to others, comparison is the thief of joy and every morning say x3 things that you love about who you are. Write it down or simply say it in the mirror to yourself. AND remember; we are all different!!! How boring would it be if we were all the same!!!! Own who you are!
SUPR: The health industry isn’t perfect. If you had the power to change one thing about it, what would it be and why?
TN: FAD DIETS
WHY?
‘FAD’ – is short lived and a craze
These FAD DIETS are not designed to last long. They are a quick fix to get ‘skinny’ and skinny isn’t important. Strong and healthy is important. Some of these diets are even so incredibly dangerous. Eat wholesome foods, don’t deprive yourself of junk food either. If you want chips or chocolate or ice cream HAVE IT and have it without GUILT! I live by 90% healthy and 10% treat! Don’t diet. Make lifestyle changes!
