5 Wellness Practices We’re Taking From Meghan Markle

If you’ve sat down to watch Netflix’s With Love, Meghan – a short series where the Duchess of Sussex invites viewers into her home where she potters around her cosy kitchen and lush gardens – you’d be forgiven if you thought that there are so many things that are simply unattainable for the average person (she is Royalty, after all!).

But if you look past the perfectly staged set, there are some achievable wellness practices that we all can try and adopt in some way or another. Keep reading for some of our faves...

Embrace a slower pace

Easier said than done, but slowing down where possible comes with its own host of health benefits, giving the body a chance to relax, recharge and lower those cortisol levels. In a world where we are constantly on-the-go, the juggle is real between work, family and everything in between. Going for a brisk walk, meditating, breathwork or yoga are just some ways to help calm the body and mind.

Consider home-grown produce

The good news is that you don’t need a big space to start growing some of your own produce! You can even work off a balcony – you just need some good soil and optimal drainage. The easiest veggies to grow for beginners? Think; leafy greens, carrots, cucumbers, tomatoes and broccoli. Apart from being quite therapeutic, having a veggie garden can save you money and promotes overall health and wellbeing.

DIY bath salts

Level up your next soak in the tub with a DIY bath salt mix. Epsom salts in particular are known to help relieve stress and ease muscle tension. By combining Epsom salts with calming scents like lavender with a sprinkle of rose petals, you’ve automatically got yourself a luxe addition to your nighttime routine.

Nutrient-rich micro herbs

Meghan sprinkles edible flowers and garnish on almost everything! Not only do they look pretty, but these micro herbs are also full of flavour and jampacked with vitamins and minerals that we should all be trying to consume more of. Think along the lines of; basil, rocket, parsley, chives and fenugreek.

Get crafty

Throughout the series, we see Meghan try her hand at everything from pouring her own bees wax candles to creating balloon installations for her kids’ birthday parties. We love that getting hands on with projects that you enjoy sparks inspiration, joy and encourages you to be present in the moment. Having an outlet or a hobby where you get to create is a great way to escape the daily grind. Whether this be getting into pottery, painting or jewellery making, we’re all for exploring other talents!
