The Return of Events

Updated: Jul 13, 2021

After a long hiatus, we’re so excited to see industry events making a comeback. From new product launches & gym openings, to cocktails & canapes with like-minded people in the health & wellness space, there’s plenty to celebrate. We may have to swap cuddles & kisses for air hugs & elbow taps, but it’s a huge leap from where we were, even just a few months ago.

For many of us, forced lock down was an opportunity to slow down from our fast-paced lives; a chance to reflect & take time for self-care. As much as we’ve enjoyed certain aspects of this, we’ve really missed the get-together’s with industry pals. At Straight Up PR, we are all about community; bringing people together is at the heart of what we do. It is our passion & our purpose.

Over the past two weeks, we have noticed a resurgence in events. For the foreseeable future, yes, events will look different. There will be limits on how many people can be inside a venue at a time, higher cleanliness standards & a strict no-attendance policy for anyone feeling unwell. It has been incredible to see so many brands & businesses adapt to these new rules, showcasing their agility in these unprecedented times.

One such event that we had the pleasure of attending took place just a few weeks ago, in honour of Vida Glow’s newest product launch. The event was hosted at a beautiful house in Darling Point, overlooking Sydney harbour. We feasted on breakfast nibbles & collagen shots, whilst enjoying the company of many familiar faces. With respect for the current restrictions, the event was hosted in different sessions with a maximum of 10 guests at any time. It was the perfect opportunity to reconnect.

More recently, we attended an event at the popular workout hub, a Squad Named Savage, in Potts Point. This was part of an event series called Work Out to Help Out, in support of gyms across Sydney. As we know, gyms & fitness centres have been amongst the hardest hit throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, so this is a fantastic & much-needed initiative, & one that we are thrilled to support.

Attending these functions has reignited our love for industry events & we can’t wait to host our next Straight Up PR party, or gathering, if you will. There’s lots in the works – watch this space!
